Single Sign On and Single Log Off

Flightmap has an optional feature to connect to a SSO provider.

What is a Single Sign On?

Single Sign On permits users to use one set of login credentials (e.g., name and password) to access multiple applications. The service authenticates the end user for all the applications the user has been given rights to and eliminates further prompts when the user switches applications during the same session.

The Single Log Off offers the possibility to log out of all the applications in which the user is logged in with SSO.

Advantages of SSO

  • SSO reduces password fatigue. You have to remember only one password instead of multiple passwords for each of the different systems.
  • SSO reduces password exposure. When you need to enter your password once, there is less risk that someone will see your password.
  • SSO simplifies user and password management. The IT department only needs to decommission your account on the identity provider to revoke your access to all the service providers.
  • Identity providers often have capabilities that make authentication more secure.
